Day One - Longest

Our really long day #1:
Thank you, Nancy Critchfield, for driving us and our tiny suitcases to the airport. Our stuff for four weeks just fit in one bag and one carry-on each… under 40 pounds  Took a long time deciding how to carry the CPAP machine, the big Nikon, computer, iPad, chargers, cables, card reader, tackle box full of pills, clothes for 90 degrees in Mumbai to freezing over Mt Everest.

On the other side of the security line we ended up with pieces that didn't fit back into the cases.  How did we do that?

On board the plane, Poppa tested the seat/bed immediately and smiled, and I'm happy with the power outlets for my machine(s).  So now we relax, enjoy a marvelous dinner, and take turns watching the movie Argo and reading "The Holy Cow and Other Indian Stories."

Slept over 8 hours and discovered that the bed works perfectly as a yoga mat to get the kinks out of the back in the morning (now night in Mumbai).  We left about 8:30 PM and arrive about 8:30 PM Thursday -- 14 hours travel + 10 hours of time shift adds up to make it the next night.  Now to figure out the pills: Do we take the night pills now when we're just waking up? Take AM and PM pills all at once? Oh, dear.

During the night the steward called for 'a doctor aboard' to help a man having a heart attack.  They asked the person across the isle from us to move so the patient could stretch out there, but the patient spent the night in the galley in front under the watchful eye of the doctor. Marvelous crew.
Now back to the stories of all the Hindu gods.  Paula told us they were confusing, so having read their stories will help us understand the temples, art, ceremonies and statues we'll see. We hope.

Wild ride from airport, lots of construction, people on the road. In the Taj Vivanta Hotel.  Lovely room, outstanding service. lots of bottled water, strange overhead shower head.... How can we convince ourselves to go to sleep when we just woke up 5 hours ago?  Ahh.  Ambien?  Lights out!
