Day 18 Sunday March 10 - Delhi to Kathmandu (Nepal)
We can hardly
imagine a greater contrast than leaving the clean elegant simplicity of
the Trident Hotel in Delhi and ending up in Kathmandu on a festival
day. So many people crowded into the streets and mountain side that the
road and bridge to the hotel was packed solid as far as the eye could
see in the smog. Look closely at that photo. The crowd moved like a
single living thing. The guide said a million people come for this one
day's festival when the Shiva Temple distributes certain substances for
people to smoke legally. The driver took a detour up and around a dirt road.
Thankfully it rained a bit so checked into the hotel and took some time
to clean up and repack for the next day's flight to Tiger Temple Lodge.

On the horizon you can see the roof line of our hotel. Hmmm. |
