Day 21 - Road to Pokhara

Day 21 Wednesday - March 13 - Road to Pokhara
The only way to get from Tiger Temple Lodge to Pokhara and the famous Fishtail resort area is with our trusty driver in the big bus.  Much of the road winds around the mountains overlooking the river below.  Guard rails?  Forget it.  We agree that the Nepalese roads and driver seem just a tad less terrifying than in India.

The fields are filled with rice in various stages and various other healthy looking crops.  Wiring continues to surprise and Waste Pro could find a fertile market here.  Similar dogs, cows, water buffalo and well dressed women, though fewer saris and more practical bloomer style pants.

The housing and shops look pretty good from the second floor up.  Below that it reminds us of our drive through East Germany right after the wall went down.  The construction supplies, debris and dust overwhelms the senses, but we wish we could come back in 10 years 'cuz we would see the difference.

After 5 hours we arrive at the Fishtail Lodge launch area, hop on the hand pulled flatbed boat/ferry and relax in this famous and beautiful resort.  The lobby sports photos of Jimmy and Roselyn, Prince Charles and lots of other well-knowns-to-somebodies.

I got obsessed with the houses along the way so I collected some of those shots for the end of today's photo collection. Please forgive me.  After the elephant grass and cow dung construction, these Nepal style houses impressed me.
